Fairhope Property Tax Ranked as Lowest in Nation

According to an article in Kiplinger and a report from ATTOM Data Solutions, Fairhope boasts the lowest property tax rates in the nation among 225 metropolitan areas surveyed. Fairhope carries an effective tax rate of only 0.27%, which translates to an average annual property tax bill of just $1,293 for a typical home valued at $478,109. This is far below the national average property tax bill of $4,062, which saw a 4% increase last year.

Overall, Alabama ranks as one of the top ten states with the lowest property taxes in the United States, according to ATTOM Data. The state-wide effective property tax rate sits at 0.42%, with homeowners at the median home value paying around $1,101 each year. Thanks to additional homestead exemptions for seniors, disabled residents, and those qualifying for the Regular Homestead Exemption, Alabama residents can see even more significant savings. These figures make Fairhope not only an affordable place to own property but also a beautiful coastal city where homeowners’ investments stretch much further than in many parts of the country according to the data.
