Still an Artists’ Colony

Only in a super-artsy, funky town like ours can you expect to see a variety of artists set up in yards, parking lots, and round-abouts creating original art for onlookers to enjoy as they’re formed. The Eastern Shore Art Center shared that 60 painters have taken to the Fairhope streets and bay front pier this week.

When: OCTOBER 28 – NOVEMBER 2, 2024

What: 6TH ANNUAL “paint out” from sunrise to sunset, artists set up with portable easels, chairs, and umbrellas along downtown streets, at Mosher’s castle, Fairhoper’s Community Park, and the Pier.

Who: You can participate in Plein Air Fairhope as an artist, student, patron, or audience member. See details to follow.

Oct 29 – Nov 1, 2024: Plein Air Fairhope Wet Room. As painters finish artworks, they will be showcasing them at ESAC on tables while they dry and before they are framed for the official exhibit.

Oct 31, 2024 12-1:00 pm: Join PAF Judge Kathleen Denis for a Gallery Talk about her plein air painting experiences and what to look for as a show judge. $15 per person.

Nov 1, 2024 6-8 pm: Plein Air Fairhope Exhibit/First Friday Art Walk. Official opening of artwork created during the week! Free to the public. PAF Artists/Sponsors may enjoy a VIP early bird entrance at 5:30pm.

Nov 2, 2024 @ 9-11 am: Plein Air Fairhope Quick Draw. Changing it up this year! PAF artists and the public are invited to paint at or around the Eastern Shore Art Center (which includes the Fairhope Castles!) All ages welcomed! Just bring your painting supplies and join us. Donations welcomed.

Nov 2 – 3, 2024 @ 10 am to 3 pm: “Exploring Gouache, the Versatile Medium” Workshop. Instructed by PAF Judge Kathleen Denis. $350 per person/$325 for ESAC Members/$210 for PAF Artists. (Must register for workshop when registering for PAF to receive discount).

Taste of Fairhope: Haunted Cocktail Tour

We have checked out the Taste of Fairhope ourselves - it is so much fun! We highly recommend this local Downtown Fairhope Food Tour for a fun stroll around town, delicious tastings, and some interesting Fairhope history. ventured over to the Colony Cemetery for a Spooky Cocktail Tour last Friday. They had a good time with thrilling ghost stories of the Eastern Shore and delicious Witches Brew.

You do not have to be a visiting tourist to enjoy this local food and local history offering. Check out more details and sign up for a tour at Taste of Fairhope - you won’t regret it!

Perky Pumpkin Party

Every year First Baptist rolls out the red carpet for kids and families on October 31 for an amazing outdoor family-friendly event! The back parking lot of the church located at 300 South Section St will be covered with free rides, a variety of inflatables, music, classic games, snacks, and candy. Check out the Perky Pumpkin Party with your family tomorrow!
