Enjoy the warmth of the fire, the sound of the waves along the bay, and the joy of community. Wear your Pirate colors, share your stories, and make memories under the stars. This event is open to everyone—bring your chairs, blankets, and your best cheer for the FHS Homecoming game! 🔥

Working Waterfront Project Continues

As part of the Working Waterfront Project the city continues to improve on the south beach area at the Fairhope Public Pier. The main purpose of the project is to make safe and user-friendly improvements to the 10-acre South Beach Park area (our Municipal Pier) to enhance Fairhope citizens’ use of the waterfront park and ensuring the park’s long-term sustainability. One of the major structural components is the repair of the 50 year old bulkhead/seawall. Years of storms, especially Hurricanes Sally and Zeta, have threatened the structural integrity of the anchoring hardware allowing portions of the wall to shift. In other spots, water intrusion behind the wall has eroded the soil supporting the walkway. The Fairhope Times reported that the city is finishing-up repairs to the south-side concrete seawall this week.

Our Southern Souls: “When someone feels suicidal, it’s real”

“I’m starting over and moving to a different state. I designed this shirt for my new life.

I’ve lived with thoughts of suicide most my life.. Once I start thinking about suicide, it becomes all I think about. Eats me up. It’s like wanting eggs and bacon for breakfast but not having it in the kitchen–can’t get happy with cereal or something else. I keep thinking about it until I drive to the grocery store to get the eggs and bacon. I couldn’t stop the thoughts until I tried to kill myself. I’m sixty and still have those moments, but I can now go to the store, call a friend, or do something to get my mind off of it…

Maybe one person will be saved from something I said. Sometimes, you gotta make changes. That sums it up right there.”
