Paige Madden from Mobile wins 2 Olympic Medals

Mobile’s Paige Madden won a bronze medal in the women’s 800m freestyle at the 2024 Olympics this weekend, coming from behind in the final laps to secure her spot on the podium alongside gold medalist Katie Ledecky. Madden, a graduate of UMS-Wright also earned a silver medal in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay, contributing to Team USA’s strong performance. Her journey to these achievements was challenging, as she battled Hashimoto’s disease and nearly retired after failing to qualify for world championships. With the support of family and friends, Madden persevered, and now she hopes her story inspires others facing similar challenges.

Progress Report on the tunnel on Veterans Drive

Blind Tiger Restaurant Update

The Blind Tiger restaurant on the pier held a job fair about 3 weeks ago and word on the street is they are ready to open but waiting on paperwork with the city. Earlier interview had indicated it would open in late July.
