GREASE @ the Bluff Starts Tonight

Good afternoon, Fairhope —

You’ve made it to Wednesday - not quite the weekend, but just close enough to start making questionable plans.

So grab your coffee, your cocktail, or whatever liquid courage gets you through the rest of the week, and let’s jump into what’s happening around town.

But first, your midweek chuckle: Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow just as well.” - Mark Twain

Feeling generous? Forward this newsletter to your brunch squad, your favorite bartender, or that one friend who still owes you for crawfish. Then shoot us an email at [email protected] with the words “I shared it!” for a shot at a $25 Kind Cafe gift card. (Because coffee tastes better when someone else paid for it.)

GREASE @ the Bluff Starts Tonight

This Bluff show is going to be electrifyin’! Tickets for the Eastern Shore Repertory’s production of Grease are available now! April 30–May 3 at 7:30 PM @ Henry George Park on the Bluff in Fairhope, Directed by Erin Langley | Choreographed by Matthew Kiel.

Tickets are going fast—and this is one show you won’t want to miss!

The Bluff Legends were on the Loose as Greased Lightning rolled through Olde Towne Daphne this afternoon! After taking the keys to Greased Lightning from the T-Birds in exchange for a reduced summer school sentence, our very own Coach Calhoun (Jason McCormick) and Assistant Coach (Nathan Cox) made pit stops at 68 Ventures, Press & Co., and Hix Snedeker Companies — bringing the spirit of Grease to life across town!

Thank you to these hometown legends for keeping the energy alive as we gear up for opening night. Grease opens this Wednesday at the Bluff and we can’t wait to welcome you to Rydell High! Tickets available here.

Today was the ribbon cutting for Newton's Nest, the new outdoor classroom at J. Larry Newton School. It includes a wildlife habitat in a living laboratory. There's a sensory garden, songbird sanctuary, butterfly garden, frog bog and pond, weather station, and box turtle habitat. There is also a loblolly pine planted from a seed that traveled to the moon as part of the Artemis mission. Newton is the fifth school in Baldwin County to have a certified outdoor classroom. The school's sixth graders were tour guides for today–they helped design the project last year. Tomorrow night (Thursday, May 1) is also Spring Into Art at J. Larry Newton School. There’s food, kids’ art and and great Silent Auction including a signed Colts football from Riley Leonard. The coolest part is the Glow in the Dark Art Gallery with art from every Newton Student. - Lynn Oldshue
