Fairhope’s First and Only Vineyard Debuts This Weekend!

Fairhope now has its own winery. Southern Grove Vineyard opens tomorrow with a gourmet restaurant and plenty of vineyard views. The bar serves ten in-house flavors of wine, including peach and blueberry—all bottle labels have a Fairhope theme. They also offer wine slushies and two flavors of moonshine wine. Rick and Dawn Fletcher own Southern Grove.

"My dad has a winery in Georgia, and my family has been in the restaurant and food industry my whole life," said Dawn. "Rick thought a winery would be a good idea in Fairhope. I told him 'no.' Then he saw this property for sale. It was owned and farmed by the same family for almost 100 years. We started planting the vineyard a couple of years ago from what looked like dead twigs. They took off on this healthy ground. I love pruning the vines, blending them together, and harvesting grapes. It's exciting to see what comes from these beautiful vines."

Southern Grove Vineyard opens on Saturday 11 AM-10PM and Sunday 11 AM-6PM. It's located at 10176 CR-32 (close to the intersection of highways 181 and 32).
