Fairhope Author Lynn Oldshue releases Our Southern Souls Vol. II

Fairhope author Lynn Oldshue is celebrating the release of Our Southern Souls Vol. II with a special book signing event this Sunday night at Central Presbyterian Church in Mobile. The event, titled Stories Matter: A Night with Ardith Goodwin and Lynn Oldshue, will feature both authors as they launch their new books—Goodwin’s Penwonderative and Oldshue’s Our Southern Souls Vol. II—each celebrating the power of storytelling and Southern culture. Attendees will have the first chance to purchase Our Southern Souls Vol. II at a special price of $15 as a token of appreciation. The book will be available in local bookstores next week and online for $40. The evening is more than just a book launch—it’s an opportunity to support a good cause. Fairhope Police Officer Needs Help After House Fire

The Rollins family—Drake, a dedicated police officer and Navy serviceman; Brittany, a stay-at-home mom; and their young son, Scout—recently lost everything when their home was destroyed in a devastating fire. While they are grateful for their safety, they now face the overwhelming task of rebuilding their lives from scratch, needing essentials and temporary housing. Any support through donations or sharing their story would mean the world to them, helping this incredible family get back on their feet and showing them they are not alone in this journey. Plein Air Fairhope 2024 is Coming
October 28 - November 2

The 6th Annual Plein Air Fairhope will showcase the artistic spirit of Fairhope from October 28 to November 2, 2024, with 60 artists painting outdoors from sunrise to sunset at various locations like downtown streets, the pier, and Mosher’s Castle. Although registration for painters is full, local artists are encouraged to join in and paint around the city. Throughout the event, visitors can view artworks at the Plein Air Fairhope Wet Room as they are completed and drying, and even purchase them before the official exhibit. The week will also feature events like a Gallery Talk by judge Kathleen Denis on October 31, an Exhibit and First Friday Art Walk on November 1, and a Quick Draw session on November 2, where both artists and the public are invited to paint around the Eastern Shore Art Center. Additionally, a two-day workshop, “Exploring Gouache,” will be led by Denis from November 2-3. This annual event promises to capture the creativity and charm of Fairhope’s vibrant arts community. More Info is available here.
