USS United States Is On The Move

Nick Lawler shares “WOW!! What a Surprise. Seeing the SS United States being towed just east of the Port of Palm Beach this morning. This storied ship still holds the transatlantic speed record. Now making its last--and very slow--journey to Mobile, Alabama, where it will be prepped before being sunk as a reef off the coast of Ft. Walton, Florida. As a kid, I remember making a model of the SS United States with my father. For over 30 yeaars the ship languished at the Philadelphia dock. I often saw it while flying into Philly. What wonderful memories. A proud ship of the US, now set to preserve the environment.”

Fairhope resident and artist, Kelly Allen, surprised Cpl. Babb today with a watercolor painting of K9 Bauer as a retirement present. Such a thoughtful gift from one of our many talented, local artists! Thank you, Ms. Allen, for your thoughtfulness and sharing your amazing talent! Last week FPD celebrated K9 Bauer's remarkable career - where he logged 3180 hours of training! Those who wish to bring a retirement gift are encouraged to donate dog or cat food to support local animals in need.

Feasibilty Study Results

The City Of Fairhope invites you to join us for a Special Called Recreation Board Meeting where we will present the findings of the Feasibility Study for our proposed new 114-acre park at County Road 13 and County Road 32.

Date & Time: Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 5:15 p.m.

Place: James P. Nix Center, 1 Bayou Drive

The Fairhope Times reports that “A peanut-shaped roundabout is one solution for the tricky Fairhope Avenue/Ingleside Drive intersection being considered by the city council. The peanut-shape would be less costly and require less right of way from adjacent property owners ... than a conventional one (roundabout),”
