Big Fairhope Weather Changes Ahead
Clouds will increase across the region today as the area prepares for its most significant rain event in months on Tuesday. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day, bringing 2 to 5 inches of rainfall to most communities, with higher amounts likely in Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia (FL), and Santa Rosa counties. This rainfall will significantly reduce the ongoing drought in the area. While the overall severe weather threat remains low, isolated instances of flash flooding are possible, especially in areas where storms repeatedly pass over. Severe thunderstorms are unlikely, though a few brief strong storms with gusty winds could occur. Rain will begin early Tuesday morning and taper off by the evening as cooler, drier air begins to move in.
By Wednesday, the rain will give way to a noticeable drop in temperatures, with colder air filtering into the region. Highs will be in the 50s on Thursday and Friday, and lows will dip into the 30s by Friday morning. The end of the week will be dry, providing a stark contrast to the heavy rainfall earlier in the week. This weather change is driven by a cold front and the remnants of Tropical Storm Sara moving eastward. Despite the rain, the overall weather pattern suggests no widespread severe storms, making the event more about beneficial rainfall and a transition to cooler, late-fall conditions. Follow Meteorologist Spinks Megginson for frequent weather updates.
