Tropical Weather Update for Fairhope

This morning, the focus is on INVEST 97L, which has an 80% chance of developing into a tropical storm Debby in the eastern Gulf of Mexico this weekend or early next week. Regardless of development, parts of central Florida could see significant rainfall, with 4-7 inches expected. There’s an increase in confidence that this system will impact the Florida Peninsula more than south Alabama or northwest Florida, but this isn’t quite guaranteed yet. If the storm stays to the east, Alabama and northwest Florida might avoid major impacts, though rip currents will still be a concern. We suggest following meteorologist Spinks Megginson and meteorologist James Spann for the latest updates on weather along the gulf coast.

Fairhope Faces: Fancy the Cat

Just across from the French Quarter, beside Panini Pete’s, Fancy—a black Maine Coon—has found her home lounging around for the past 10 years. Panini Pete’s employee John Stewart has been feeding Fancy for eight years, ensuring she’s well-cared-for, even after a scare in 2022 when she was temporarily taken by an unsuspecting couple from Birmingham. Fairhope’s residents quickly rallied to bring her back, demonstrating the community’s deep attachment to Fancy who has have become a cherished fixture in the town.
