Fairhope Downtown Hotel Back Up For Approval

The Fairhope Times reports that the city’s Board of Adjustments and Appeals will review a proposal on Monday for a three-story hotel and mixed-use project at 301 Fairhope Avenue, which would require demolishing the old Peoples Cooperative/Fairhope Hardware Store. The project includes a 27-room hotel on the upper floors, with a medical spa and restaurant on the ground floor. Although hotel use is not typically allowed under the B-2 general business zoning, the developers are seeking a special exception. The plan was previously delayed in August to address parking concerns, as city staff requested one parking space per hotel room, and negotiations about potential off-site parking or using the city’s parking structure were ongoing.

Fairhope Witches Ride Has Limited Tickets Left for Tomorrow

From the Baldwin County Humane Society — Witches and Warlocks! Sparkles wants to remind you all that tickets to ride in the Fairhope Witches Ride are only on sale until tomorrow (Tuesday 10/22) at noon unless we sell out before! Ball tickets will be sold at the gate.

Fairhope High School Band Named WKRG Band of the Week

Congratulations to Fairhope High School’s Buccaneer Band for being named WKRG Band of the Week for Week 8 of 5th Quarter! Led by drum majors Addison Vontrobe, Gustavo Aguilera, and Sydney Gray, along with band directors Meredyth Peterson and Tyler Butler, the Buccaneer Band consistently excels. The Fairhope High School Wind Ensemble has been selected to perform at the Alabama Music Educators In-Service Conference in January 2024 and 2025, and many band members regularly earn spots in state honor bands and all-state ensembles. The band is known for receiving superior ratings at both marching and concert competitions, and their dedication shines through every Friday night and competition. Congratulations to the Buccaneer Band!

Fairhope Adoptable Pets: Meet Mooshy

Meet Mooshu, a striking 3-year-old male black and white cat with a heart full of affection! His distinctive patches make him a standout in any room, but it’s his personality that truly shines. Mooshu is independent and knows exactly when he’s had enough love, making him the perfect balance of snuggles and solo time. He adores spending quality moments with his human companions, offering gentle headbutts and purring contentedly by your side. When it’s playtime, he transforms into a bundle of energy, eagerly chasing feather wands, pouncing on balls, and darting after laser pointers with impressive agility. This charming cow cat is ready to bring joy, warmth, and a dash of playfulness to his forever home. If you’re looking for a companion who knows how to keep things lively while also appreciating some personal space, Mooshu is the one for you!
