Barnwell Residents Face Crucial Vote on Zoning as Rapid Development Looms – Community Meeting Set for Tonight
Residents of Fairhope’s Barnwell area will vote again in December on zoning for District 38, following the approval of a large subdivision of 339 houses despite community concerns. The push for zoning has intensified as rapid development threatens the rural character of the area, with over 300 permits in process and fears that without zoning, unchecked growth will continue. A community meeting is scheduled for tonight at 5:30 PM at Delta Grocery to discuss the zoning proposal and encourage residents to participate in the upcoming vote, which could significantly impact the area’s future. A District 38 Facebook group has also been started to help inform residents about the developments and zoning.
Fairhope “Private Gallery” soft opening Today
Today is the soft opening for the new location of Private Gallery Boutique. The address is 330 Fairhope Ave, next to Adrenaline. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. The grand opening will be later in the fall.
Meteorology Presentation Open to Public Today at USA Campus
On Thursday, August 8 at 5:30 p.m., Dr. Sytske Kimball, Chair and Professor of Meteorology at the University of South Alabama, will be speaking at the USA Baldwin County Campus about her research on hurricanes and Gulf Coast weather. Her work includes founding a network of 26 weather stations and securing a $3 million grant from NOAA to expand it further. Seating is limited, so be sure to register online to attend. This is a great opportunity to learn from a leading expert in the field.
