Baldwin Family Village

The Baldwin Family Village provides 12 months of housing stability and wrap-around services for up to 100 single women and women with children annually. BFV seeks to break the cycle of homelessness and help women and children re-establish and maintain self-sufficiency by focusing on accountability, case management, life skills, and behavior modification. To-date, the BFV has served 136 individuals and has successfully graduated 88 of these women and children into independent housing.

The Baldwin Family Village Foundation was established in 2022 as the fundraising arm of Baldwin Family Village (BFV), Baldwin County, Alabama's first and only transitional housing program for homeless women and children. Each year, in an effort to ensure the program's sustainability, the Foundation is tasked with raising $540,000 to fund annual operating costs.

Knights of Ecor Rouge Parade

Tomorrow night the KOER Parade rolls at As Mardi Gras historian Emily Hearin recounted the tale, the Knights of Ecor Rouge began as the brainstorm of several Eastern Shore friends while they were on "a spirited sailing vacation in the Grenadine Islands in December 1983." "Ecor Rouge" is French for "Red Cliff" and is a specific reference to a triangular shaped bluff between Daphne and Fly Creek in Montrose. Incorporated in April 1984, the organization numbered 150 by the time of its first parade in February 1985, according to Hearin. KOER's motto is "Chevaliers a se Rappeler," which means, "Knights to Remember" in French. That was the theme of the organization's first parade and ball. This year, KOER will parade on February 22 at 6:30 p.m. Their theme will be A Knight Looks at 40, and the parade will include 13 floats, designed by Brent Amacker and built by Craig Stephens's Carnival Artists. Costumes are by Bienville Costumes.
