Winter Just Showed Up
Spinks Megginson tells us: “BITTERLY COLD AIR MOVING IN; P.M. TEMPS IN 30s; WIND CHILL IN 10s TUE. MORNING... Very cold air continues to advance into south Alabama and northwest Florida behind a powerful cold front on this Monday. Air temperatures will be "going the wrong way" all day. This means our technical high temperature has already happened and temperatures will be declining throughout the day. We'll be in the 30s across the region this afternoon with wind chill values in the 20s - yes, this afternoon. Temperatures will dive below the freezing mark this evening with overnight lows in the 20s by 6AM tomorrow.” Learn more here
Progress on Section St. Wash Out
After intense rains measuring at around 9 inches last weekend and a wash out on Section Street, City of Fairhope crews have been out working into the evenings on a major repair. The City Council called a special meeting last week and approved a $754,000 construction plan. The progress appears to be steady and the city’s goal is to have the road open again within just a few weeks. We appreciate the quick response and the hard work of so many crews - even late and on the weekend.
Hope Community 5k: Huge Turnout
It was a chilly Saturday morning, but the sun came out as runners lined up at the historic Anna T. Jeanes School property. Over 200 registrants showed up to run or walk the Inaugural Hope Community 5k in Fairhope just south of town. This was a fundraiser and the Hope Community’s mission statement is: “Nurturing Unity and Relationships through Food, Healing, and Education. ALL ARE WELCOME.” Love this mission? Ongoing sponsors and volunteers are welcome!
